Marvel’s problems with the Blade remake could push Spider-Man 4’s release date back. It is claimed that Blade’s planned release of November 2025 could be used for Spider-Man 4.
Blade delay could push Spider-Man 4 release date earlier
Marvel’s Blade remake has faced many problems since it was announced in 2019. In addition to external factors such as the Covid-19 pandemic and industry strikes, director and screenwriter changes have also complicated the process. Finally, with the departure of director Yann Demange and the appointment of Eric Pearson as screenwriter, there is talk that Blade may be delayed once again.
Blade is scheduled to start shooting this year, but it could take time to find a new director, which could delay the project even further. Marvel has no plans to shelve Blade, but problems could push the film’s release date back to 2026.
Earlier this year, reports claimed that Spider-Man 4 would start shooting in September 2024. Sony and Marvel are said to be preparing for the movie to be released during the 2025 holiday season.
However, Marvel wanted the Spider-Man 4 release date to be 2026 due to its busy schedule in 2025. Blade’s release date in November 2025 could be a favorable date for Spider-Man 4, in which case Blade’s release date could be moved to 2026.
Sony and Marvel have yet to officially announce Spider-Man 4. If it is true that filming will start at the end of 2024, an announcement can be expected soon. This announcement could also clarify whether Spider-Man 4 will replace Blade. Marvel will share new MCU news and announce a new release date for Blade at Comic-Con at the end of July.
